Boutique Guitar Showcase: Cosmo Music, Toronto

The idea behind the Boutique Guitar Showcase is to bring to the public a taste of what modern guitarmaking has to offer. In the past, you would have to travel far distances to attend a luthier exhibition, and even these shows were dwindling in number. With the current pandemic, this has made such shows non-existent.

Jamie Gale, the curator of BGS, has been doing this for a few years, and it’s been great to have the general public introduced to guitars that aren’t a Strat, Les Paul, or some copy. Vintage guitars are plastered all over media, so to be able to see modern designs that offer true inspiration is refreshing. These modern guitars open your eyes to the creative possibilities in guitar design, and it educates people to the fascination developments in this golden age of luthiery.

The BGS has never made a stop in the Greater Toronto Area, so this was certainly a treat to see some of these guitars.

Here is just a small sampling of the guitars I felt were the standouts in the show. Included also are guitars that are currently in stock at Cosmo Music, and most easily could belong to this roadshow. You can see the full collection and details of the guitars here.
