Sankey Black Swan 7-string

In Guitars by jtkung

At Sankey Guitars, one of Michael Sankey’s specialities is headless guitars. And the Black Swan is no exception.  In the current landscape of modern headless guitars, you see a lot of guitars where the maker starts out with a super-strat body style, adds exotic figured wood, then cuts off the headstock and hastily places the tuners at the rear.  The designs are cut down versions of the headed versions so often lack originality and miss the point of ergonomics.

The Black Swan is a modern, headless, 7-string guitar that has been designed from the ground up. Some unique features which set it apart from other 7-strings:

  • Ergonomic body that has been designed for both comfort and aesthetics
  • Unique wood body composition of a Spruce core with Padauk and Ebony on the top and back
  • Multi-ply neck of Padauk and Walnut
  • Striped Ebony fretboard
  • Zero-fret multi-scale with stainless steel frets
  • Headless hardware with a tremolo bridge on a multi-scale (one of the first)

While many modern 7-strings opt for a standard strat-style body with traditional woods and a “blinged out” figured top, the Black Swan opts for natural woods and a unique Spruce core as the body wood for light weight.  Coupled with a dense multi-laminated neck, this gives an incredible response and tonal range.

The Black Swan is a truly unique 7-string headless guitar and stands unique among the myriad of “afterthought” headless guitars out today.
